Robert Raymond “Pops” Stout, Sr. rnrn For Pops, the only wasted day was one without laughter. He was at his happiest when he had those around him in hysterics. He was never stuck without a punch line. But it was all part of his outgoing ways. A stranger was simply a friend he hadn’t met yet, and it didn’t matter if he found himself with a ditch digger or a neurosurgeon, he was always looking to make your acquaintance. Pops loved hitting the casinos and rooting for the Phillies, but his favorite was spending time with the grandkids. rn As a teenager, Robert met a young woman named Marie (nee Roberts). She waited for him while he proudly served as a Lieutenant (sharpshooter) in the US army during WWII. But upon his return, they moved to Delanco and she became his American Express; he never left home without her. Before her passing in 2007, their lives were blessed by their children: Robert, Jr. (Yvette), Raymond (Meghan), Tracey Hamlin (Paul) and Susan Hoffman (Eric) and again by their grandchildren: Eric and Lauren Hoffman, Danny and Sean Hamlin, Kate Foster and Kristen Stout, Christopher, Brendan, David and Michael Stout.rn Come celebrate Pop’s 83 laughter-filled years (Nov. 10, 1927-Aug. 8, 2011) Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at Jesus the Good Sheppard Parish (St. Peter’s Site), Riverside. Interment Brig. Gen William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery, Wrightstown. rn

As a child, it was always a treat to visit my Aunt Marie and Uncle Bob at their home in Delanco. I can’t think of a time when Uncle Bob didn’t make me laugh. Dear Tracey, so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I met him briefly for the first time at Sean’s First Holy Communion. He was so pleasant and cheerful and he talked about his Phillies. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
