James J. Jones, Sr.

James J. Jones, Sr.

For Jim, the secret to happiness was simple; don’t go on a tireless pursuit of the unnecessary, rather, be content with what you have. He had everything he ever wanted within his home in Delanco. It’s there he could be found watching the birds from his kitchen table, suffering through an Eagles game or just catching a nap. But it’s also where he could find that what was most important to him, his family. There was never a time he did anything less than support them fully. rn Jimmy always had an eye for the ladies, and loved to flirt. But his greatest moment came when, as a young man, he spotted a young woman named Jennie (nee Gangone) in a local bar. Despite the fact that she was engaged he was determined to win her over. Armed only with his wonderful singing voice and his sense of bravado, his success was seen in their 58 year marriage. Before her passing earlier this year, they were blessed by their children: James, Jr. (Alice) of Mt. Laurel, Jeffrey (Maryann) of Riverside, Nancy Kerrigan (Bill) of Delanco and Kathleen Stephenson (Ken) of Delanco, and again by their 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.rn Come celebrate Jim’s 81 wonderful years (Oct. 8, 1930-Dec. 4, 2011) Wednesday from 8:30-10:30 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM at Resurrection Parish (St. Casimir Site), Riverside. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to The Hospice of Moorestown VNA 300 Harper Dr., Moorestown, NJ 08057.rn

I share my sympathy with the family of uncle Jimmy. I remember the day I seen him in New Jersy when he gave me three keep sake spoons, I still have them to remind me of him for the rest of my life. Thank you uncle Jimmy and God bless you.

There are many fond moments I have shared with my beloved father, from sitting on the patio out back with my mother and him every day after work..watching the rabbits do their rabbit dance, trying to convince him to stay up for 5 more minutes, our trip to Disney World when Mom got stranded on the monorail, our Sunday dinners, listening to his little songs he would sing, the way he would be too full to eat his dinner, but always smiled when he saw desert, the way he raised me to be a responsible, loving mother, daughter, and sister, the love and strength he taught me so I could help him and mom the best way I could, and the way he taught me never to drive with less than a 1/4 tank of gas! He will be missed all the days of my life..but I know he is finally with Mom and will share in the joys of everlasting life! I love you Dad..give Mom a hug for me and tell her (as she told me every day) I love her soooo much! Your very loving daughter, Nancy Lee.

It’s been almost two years since you left us, PopPop, but I miss you terribly everyday. I so wish you were here…..I have my very own little “shack” now!!! You would love sitting by my kitchen window….there’s turkeys outside every day.
Quinn still calls you his “main man” and cries when he talks about you.
I hope you’re having a blast up there with Grammy. hugs and kisses to you both. I love you. Turkey.
