If he had the time and money Jim escaped to San Antonio, TX. He was drawn to the culture and colorful fiestas. He’d listened to Christian music as long as Elvis was singing. Jim always had a generous nature: at one time he was an accountant/manager at the Dutch Inn and at Christmas time he treated his entire family to a dinner there. In later years he’d take them all to the Telford Inn. Nieces and nephews found him a bit stubborn and fun to pick on but he always gave back as good as was given. At his home there was always a dog as a companion and a cat to companion the dog. rnHe is survived by two sisters: Carroll (Rick) Anderson and Judy (Lewis) Coles , a brother, Charles (Debbie). He was pre-deceased by a brother, Jackson V.rnCome celebrate 58 unique years Thursday, April 26, at St. Paul’s UM Church, 7 Church Street, Bridgeport where a Memorial Service will be held at 7PM. rnLeave a story of Jim at lifecelebrationstudio.com.rn

    Jim Briggs gave me my first job when I just turned 18 yrs old. I worked at the Dutch Inn for 14 Years. I had a lot of good times at the Dutch Inn. Jim was a good man and will truly be missed. My condolences to the family.rnrnDeepest SympathyrnSheila Kirby

    My deepest sympathies go out to Judy (Briggs) Coles and her family. It is always hard to lose a family member, but a sibling is especially difficult. My prayers are with you all. I lost a brother in November 2011 and Judy Daley did a fabulous job with his celebration.

    First, let me say how sorry I am to Jimmy’s family for this turn of events. While Jim’s health may have been problematic over the last few years, his spirit was good and his sense of humor always intact.nnIn knowing JB for going on 9 years, he will always be someone I remember as enlightened, happy, altruistic and always there if you needed him. In the few times I met his family, they were welcoming, warm folks. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated their company. As with Jimmy, they were simply good people.nnThe great state of Texas remembers Jim fondly. His home away from home was San Antonio and I will never forget the great times we had in our many years of friendship.
