Joy Canduci
Blessed with an outgoing nature, Joy was always fast to make new friends. From her younger days when she was the White Captain for Riverside’s Sports Night, to when she helped start the local chapter of the Red Hats, she was never one to hide in the shadows. Whether it was a fun-filled trip to her trailer at the shore or even a dull appointment at a doctor’s office, she made friends wherever she went. But, for Joy her favorite times were those with family. However, her clan was not divided by bloodlines; everyone was considered one of her own. This was never more apparent than at Thanksgiving Dinner. Every year she led the blessing, and never once made it through without shedding a tear. She loved those that were there and missed those who could not make it; either way they were always in her heart.rn Joy is survived by her husband Nunzio of Riverside and her children Douglas Thielman (Ginger) of Hainesport, Christian Thielman (Donna) of Kissimmee FL, Nadine Harvier (Joe) of Little Silver, Robert Canduci of Delran, Lisa Canduci (Albin Zebrowski) of Delran and Daniel Canduci (Kristy Cuva) of Palmyra. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Vanessa, Dean, Angela, Jessica, Daniel, Brielle, Colin, Morgan, Katelyn and Brooke, and her sister Crystal Pardee (Elliot) of South Carolina. rn Come celebrate Joy’s 71 wonderful years (Jan. 30, 1941-Nov. 11, 2012) Wednesday 6-8 PM and Thursday 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (St. Peter’s Site), Riverside. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.rn

Have so many great memories of Joy. She was one of the gang my dad was lucky enough to call his friend. She was the wife of another Rotarian and so if there was a function, you could bet my parents were with her and her then husband. The 3 Sweeney sisters always knew how much she cared about us. I’m sure everyone felt that way. But if Joy didn’t like you, I think you knew that too! So supportive of all that my family did- from parties to weddings to our baby showers & then our fundraising efforts. Great memories of going to visit her at a house she used to rent in LBI. Always was during Wimbledon Week. She’d have us all over for a special breakfast to watch the matches. We could’ve cared less about the tennis- it was all about seeing her and her family. It’s been a few years since I saw her last. Very sad to hear of her passing. My family couldn’t have asked for a nicer person to have been in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the kids and Nunzio at this time- xoxonnPS- I am ever so thankful that my father, JOHN I. SWEENEY is there to welcome her to her next life. One that has no pain, no suffering or Weight Watchers either!!!!!
When Joy received her name, it was the very right name for her. She was a joy to know and she brought joy with her wherever she went. It was an honor to know her. I offer my condolences to her family for the very great loss of such a lovely lady.
Joy, my dearest friend of so many years. Breakfast at Wimbelton every year on LBI…Rotary activities and functions..School fashion shows..New Year’s eve parties…You loved life and always shared it with others.Say hi to John I..Bob Cavella up in Heaven..Till we meet again…Thanks for all the wonderful memories.
Dear Nunzio & Family:rnI served as Joy’s secretary for our Red Hat Chapter. Joy showed us ladies over the age of 50 how to let that “little girl” (who like to play dress up) do just that – dress up in our red hats and purple outfits go out and play, dance,sing. She was our Red Hat Cheerleader. I was truly blessed to have known her. I tip my red hat in respect.
Dear Nunzio and Family,rnJust wanted to let you know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Joy was a special part of our Scrubbie camping family and will be so missed. I will always remember her smile and wonderful advice she was a special person. rnJohn Jessica and I we’re truely blessed to have gotten to know her.
I met Joy five years ago….five wonderful camping seasons I got to spend with her! She quickly became a beloved friend, someone I could sit and talk to and confide in for hours…and did! She lived life true to her name…JOY! Saturday night dinners will never be the same now that “Our Joy” has been taken from us!
