Gertrud L. Nichols (nee Hoffman) of Willingboro passed away on Friday the 23rd of November at 9:03 AM. Gertrud was born in Ansbach, Germany and lived in Willingboro for the past 38 years. She loved to travel, cook, bake cookies and grow her flowers. She was the widow of John G. and is survived by her dear son John G and his loving wife Sharon of Derby, Kansas. Grandmother of John and Ian Nichols and great-grandmother of Sophia Rose. Mrs. Nichols is also survived by her sister Helga Baluschek, brothers Walter and Gerhard Hoffman and families in Germany, by her sisters in law Mary Palmquist and Lois Palmquist and their families. She is survived by her dear friends: Paula Proctor, Ingrid and Herman Kapferer, Helma Pertiller, Lena Coomer and also by many extended family members and friends in Germany and the United States.rnRelatives and friends are invited to join the Nichols family and share their fondest memories on Thursday, November 29 from 7-7:30 PM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where a memorial service will begin at 7:30 PM.rn

    Mrs Nichols, I will miss you greatly. You are one of my few chosen patient’s 🙂 You would bring me cookies and chocolate from Germany when you visited your family. You are a very special lady and I will never forget you. So sad to see you have left us………your friend always, Lisa

    Tante, I will always remember our special TV dinners when I would stay over when Onkel John was away working. Your famous spaghetti for breakfast was always a hit also. Jerome and I would run down every morning the week before Easter to check our nests we built to see what surprises your special Easter Bunny left us.     I have so many memories of my Tante. Waiting for that paper plate with the amazing Christmas cookies every year. I always made sure I got to them first :).     Gertrude You were so many things to so many people. I remember you often talking about the friends that you and John met while in the service many years ago and how you still correspond with them or talk to them periodically. You were such a special person. You had the ability to make everyone feel they were your special friend. The world doesn’t have your kind anymore-unfortunately for us.     Gertrude worked for my mother and I knew her from early adolescence on. She became a family friend and I was always so impressed that she would write me long personal notes at Christmas,all these years later, asking how my boys are doing and telling me about her family and her travels. And oh, her Christmas cookies were such a treat. What a friendly, loving and caring lady. All will miss Gertrude.
