Doris J. Goetz

Doris J. Goetz

Doris may very well have agreed with Albert Einstein when he commented that “only a life lived for others is worth living”. She always put the needs of everyone else before her own. It could even be said that she was put on this earth to take care of her family. Her children and her late husband, Louis, were the center of her universe; she saw that they wanted for nothing. Even when Louis took ill, she took on the duties and responsibilities of overseeing his care. However, this was never limited to just family. Doris simply loved being around people. Inside of five minutes of meeting a stranger she tended to know everything about that person, who was, by that point her friend. She kept her home in Delran meticulously clean. And she always appreciated the little things in life; going out shopping, to catch a movie or just to dinner were the things that made her so grateful for her family. But, when back home she could quite often be found watching the Phillies, even staying true during their rougher seasons.rn In the 1940s, Doris met a young man named Louis at a local roller skating rink. When he picked her up for their first date he wanted to impress her with a fancy car. He had hoped that his friend, a local funeral director would loan him an automobile. Unfortunately, all that was available was the hearse. Although Doris must have been surprised by the sight of a funeral coach pulling up to her door, there was no surprise that their relationship blossomed into their 41 year marriage. Before his passing in 1988, their lives were blessed by their children: Louis W. Goetz (Debbie) of Marlton, Kenneth J. Goetz (Karen) of Newtown, PA and Robert Goetz of Delran. Doris is also survived by her grandchildren: Kimberly, Lori, Kenny, Jr., Brian and Kelsey and her great-grandchildren: Jenna, Danielle, Daxton and Drayden.rn Come celebrate Doris’ 85 selfless years Thursday from 9-10:15 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM at Church of the Resurrection (Holy Name Site) 260 Conrow Rd., Delran, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to American Heart/American Stroke Association 1 Union St., Suite 301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691.rn
