Edmund P. Russek

Although Edmund knew that perfection is unattainable, he also realized by chasing it excellence could be achieved.  He was meticulous in every task he undertook.  His home in Moorestown reflected this; his closets were perfectly organized, seldom could a leaf be found in his yard and he made sure that the pool was always perfectly clean.   It was this sense of exactness that helped him to succeed.  Ed started out as a tech at RCA, but after putting himself through Drexel he went on to work as a mechanical engineer. After enduring a layoff in 1968, he later went on to work for Honeywell, DW Supply and CM3 as an Account Executive.  However, where he sought perfection most was on the golf course.  His ability to shoot one under par earned him the name “Birdman”.  He was fortunate enough to have shot a hole in one and even shot his age when he was 78.

Although originally from Minnesota, he met a young woman named Betty Pearl (Darmo) while stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, which lead to their marriage in 1956.  Together their lives were blessed by their sons: Mark (Karen) of Moorestown and Martin (Katalin) of Tabernacle and again by their grandchildren: Sean, Nikole and Brandi.  He is also survived by his sisters: Barbara Emery (Dale) and Dorothy Brock (Donald)

Come celebrate Edmund’s 79 meticulous years (Aug. 2, 1933-Mar. 28, 2013) Monday from 6 PM at the Sweeney Funeral Home 478 Cooper St., Beverly, where the service will be at 8.  In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
