Marie Pontelandolfo
Aunt Marie’s bubbly personality did wonders for the staff where she worked. She kept things humming and fellow employees happy. She graduated with the class of ‘57 from Camden Catholic HS. Went to Harris Business School and on to a wonderful career as an executive medical secretary with Jefferson Hospital at first and later spent 30 years at University of Pa. Hospital.
But Marie wasn’t all work and no play. She toured the world. She visited Russia and China and took many river boat tours through Europe and never came home empty handed. There were always gifts for her friends and relatives.
She was the daughter of Salvatore and Antoinette whom she took care of until their deaths and is survived by two brothers: Carmen (Julie) and Joseph (Bernice) and their children that she spoiled : Carmen (Renee), Matthew (Lorin), Marc (Ali), Maria (Anthony) Tartaglia, Jennifer (John) Canning, Kirsten (Tony) Cerulli, and Karen Pontelandolfo.
Come celebrate her life and her 74th birthday, Monday June 3, from 11 AM at Carluccis Restaurant, 876 Centerton Rd., Mt. Laurel

What can I say about Marie. She was a neighbor for 46 years. Above all, she loved her family and spoke about them all the time. She loved traveling and often spoke about the places she’d been too and some of the gifts she bought.
She will be missed.
My name is Joseph Genovese Jr.; I was born in Camden, NJ and I will be 70 y/o next month I lived at 601 Clinton St.; my father had a barber shop in our home. my mother worked at Campbell Soup; their names were Joe and Millie. I have an older brother Tony who lives in Cherry Hill NJ. When I was a very young boy my mother would take to visit one of her best friends who lived around 7th. and Clinton–her name was Nettie Pontelandolfo. Later I believe the family moved to Barnseboro and I .my mother would ask me to take her there for visits; I was going to Glassboro State College at time time. Being a traditional Italian I always consult the obit pages of the CP and I stumbled on your name and wondered if you are the family from Clinton Street. Regardless, may I send my deepest sympathy.
My deepest condolences. May the Almighty God continue to comfort your family in your time of grief. And may you continue to gain strength and peace from the promises found in God’s Word the Bible. At Revelation 21:3,4 we have this assurance “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more…” May your memories continue to provide you a measure of comfort at this time.
Marie was the person who directed my career path! When being directed toward a medical career, I knew I didn’t want years of more schooling (doctor) or to be a nurse (who, at 15-16 years old, I thought was akin to a waitress). Marie dressed well, traveled & worked for important physicians at Jefferson! She was my influence!
I lived across the street from the “Pontes” . Sam and Antoinette were like grandparents to me, so much so, we named our son after Sam. Marie was the girl who traveled the world. We always looked forward to seeing her photos and hearing about her travels. When my wife and I asked her to be the godmother of our son, she gladly accepted and flew across the country to attend his christening. Her thoughtfulness and genuine interest in his life and ours will never be forgotten. We will all miss her. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to everyone that knew her and loved her.
