A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Sat., Sept. 7 at Jesus, the Good Shepherd ,101 Middleton St. in Riverside for Renate M. Duffy (nee Bank), age 77, who died suddenly at home during a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 9–10 am at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro St., Riverside. Burial services will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Rte. 130, Cinnaminson. A luncheon for family and friends, to celebrate Renate’s life, will follow.
Renate is survived by her second husband, Anthony Duffy; children John (Cathy) Southrey, Ingrid (Brad) Edelman, and Steven Duffy; grandchildren Courtney, Derek, Morgan, Alexandra, Nicole and Lauren; siblings Horst, Sigrid, Armin and Roland; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Paul and Martha Bank; sister, Erika; and brothers, Dieter and Siegfried.
Renate was born on 4/23/36 in Breslau / Germany. She came to the U.S. in 1957 after marrying her first husband, John W. Southrey while John was in the Army stationed in Germany. After John’s death in 1959 at the age of 23, she married Anthony Duffy and moved to Delran where she resided for 49 years. In 2011 she moved to Las Vegas to be near her daughter, who was her devoted caregiver.
Renate touched many lives during her 30+ years working as a nurse at healthcare facilities including Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Kresson View Center.
She was an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed but we know she is at peace in the presence of our Lord.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Your mom was blessed to have such wonderful, and devoted children and grandchidlren love and care for her as you did. She is now an angel watching over all of you.
