From a young age he was known as the “professor.” Before the age of 12 Jim had read all the works of Shakespeare and as an adult he was a savant with Jeopardy. Fitting that he spent most of his life teaching grade school in Pemberton and, in later years, at the Camden County Police Academy. When the Phils would disappoint him, he’d quietly walk out to the parking lot and sit in his car. Nieces and nephews all knew him as Uncle Seamus. He never showed up empty handed, usually with some gift from Princeton Play Things, which he would have already played with himself. Jim lived his life in service to others; he cared for most of his elderly relatives and regularly drove people to doctor’s appointments with FISH. He always stayed fit and ran many a 5k, usually to support charities.
He was the brother of Andrea, Andrew (Kay) and Susan Szychoski; uncle of Andrew (Maureen), Mary Kathryn Rogers (Tom), Joseph (Helen), Theresa Garber (Cecil), Patrick (Lisa), Daniel (Angelica), William (Colleen) and Leah Marter (Ed). He is survived by many great nieces and nephews and his God son ,Gavin.
Come celebrate 69 great years Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside and Tuesday from 10-10:45 at Sacred Heart Church, Riverton where there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment St. Peter Cemetery, Riverside. Contributions in Jim’s memory to woundedwarriorproject.org will be appreciated.
