Betty made sure to keep having fun when she grew older, because if she stopped having fun she might grow old. Her ways always appeared so proper, yet she was anything but prudish…if you told her an off-color joke, she would find the humor in it. While shows like “Mike & Molly” brought her some big laughs, she was more likely to read a book than watch TV. Betty always had a social side, the Societa’ Bell’Italia club formed in 2003 would see her as Treasurer for eight years. Where she had the best of times, though, was always with her family. Along with her late husband, Grant, she was known to light up any dance floor. As a couple, the two traveled whenever possible, taking in the Grand Canyon, Switzerland, Austria, England as well as many trips to Italy. She would later share these adventures with her grandchildren, taking them to Disney, camping, the shore and all over Philadelphia. Perhaps that’s why they stayed all summer at mom-mom’s.
Unbeknownst to the Burlington City High School Class of 1947, the photographer used their class portraits as examples at other schools. A senior at Riverside High, named Grant Cuzzupe saw Betty’s photo and instantly fell in love with the girl in the picture. The photographer would not give him the girl’s name, but fate intervened. At a local dance he spotted the young woman, and by 1951 the two were wed. Together, they made their home in Riverside, and then Beverly and finally in Burlington. Before his passing in 2002, their lives were blessed by their children: Michael (Janice), of N.C., Lynn Petz (Neil) of Springfield Twp, NJ and Marc (JoAnn Patti) of PA and again by their grandchildren: Carolyn Cuzzupe, Danette Thomas (Darrell), Marc Cuzzupe (Hannah) and Jeffrey Petz. Betty is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Lauren, Ava, Sophia, Charlotte, Killian, Dylan, William, Matthew, Mattison and Colin, her sister, Francine Brown as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Come celebrate Betty’s 84 wonderful years (Oct. 11, 1929-Aug. 3, 2014) Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 10-11 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will be at 11 AM Friday. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Lourdes House Foundation, 1600 Haddon Ave, Camden, NJ 08103.

Loved her then, love her now,REST IN PEACE OUR DEAR FRIEND. Love,Nonny and family.
Our condolences to Betty’s wonderful family. Our thoughts and prayers are with during this sad occasion. We have been friends with Betty and Grant for over 50 years. We traveled to Austria on a skiing trip, where Betty who didn’t ski, purchased a piece of jewelry as her share of the “fun” money, Grant expended on lift tickets. We attended dances with Betty and Grant, visited as couples with them and other Cuzzupe family members until we moved to NC shortly after Grant’s passing. Since then, we have exchanged Christmas cards with Betty. Knowing that Betty will be reunited with Grant adds some comfort to her passing. RIP Betty. We’ll miss you.

Lynn my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your mother was a very special person and on her visits out here and seeing her back at your house, always enjoyed her visits. I will never forget and laugh when Steph had her planking here on the coffee table. I have that picture in my computer room. She always enjoyed being part of the fun.
I know this is very hard for you and my prayers are always with you.
Love Judy
Betty and Grant were my parents and our family friends for years. She worked at Burlington County Special Services where my brother Robert went to school during the 1970’s and 1980’s. My mom’s funeral was Thursday morning at Sweeney’s so Betty Cuzzupe and Rose Pattanite are now together remembering old times. Rose knew all the Cuzzupe’s because by marriage she was related to the late Joseph. My sympathies to the family and will always remember Betty for her kindness given to my Mom and Robert.
Rest in Peace,
Rich and family.

– For the record, the nanmig issue is tough for some heterosexual couples too, especially when the lady is a feminist who doesn’t like the historical default. I hate the idea that women alone are expected to switch families , or worse, become someone else’s property . So for the time being, my husband and I have each kept our last names. I was a fan of the mash-up, he was not. In my view, we’ve just punted on the problem. There will be a whole new round of negotiations when/if we have to name children. At least you’ve got that issue settled.
Dese’Rae L. Stage – Agh! I asked in NYC, and she didn’t tell me that! She only asked how much time she had. She’ll probably play the damn thing in Texas or sohntmieg.
