Ruth wore many hats: mom to her own 7 children plus all the other neighborhood kids, a Brownie Leader and active in the 4H.
Her work ethic dated to the days of her youth: as a young teenager she learned how to open clam and oyster shells while working at Pete’s Fish Market. Her artsy side blossomed when she started decorating cakes. From her home business came fancy tiered cakes including dolls to match the bridesmaids dresses and of course rosettes. Later years found her teaching a night class in cake decorating at West Deptford H.S. She used to visit her brother and sister so much at Nicholas Nursing Home that an administrator talked her into becoming an aide. She stayed with the position until the both passed away. Most will agree that her last job was the best: she went on to spread smiles making candy and sugar eggs at Damask Candies. She remained active in the Logan Twp. Sr. Citizens.
Ruth was an ardent Penns Grove H.S. rooter. She met her late husband, John at a football game. He happened to be rooting on Swedesboro High. It could have been contentious at first but the attraction led to a 64 year marriage. April 21 would have been their 68th anniversary. They were blessed with 7 children: Cynthia Goodale, Ruth Ann Hall (John), Cathy Wilson (Matt), John Jr. (Joann), Sandy Richman (Frank), Michael, George (Vickie), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Come celebrate 86 motherly years Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio where there will be a service at 11a.m. Burial Eglington Cemetery.

Grandma you’ve given me so many happy memories. I know your up in heaven now with Grandpop and you wouldn’t want me to be sad but my heart is heavy right now. I love you so much. Thank you for everything you did and gave to me through the years. When I was little you took me to the shore and to Florida more times then I can remember. We had so much fun playing crazy 8’s and Uno. We laughed and carried on as one of us always had to pick, pick, pick…..I can’t count the number of tears you had to wipe away after I called home on our trips but it never stopped you from taking me again, you just loved me the way I was. One memory we talked about all the time was how I wandered away from you at the shore…Im sure my eyes were full of tears then, like they are now as I repeat what I said then to the officer who found me….”We have a lost Grandmom on the boardwalk tonight…” Yes my heart is heavy because I’ve lost you on this earth but your spirit will live on forever. I’ll always carry your memory and love inside my heart…..love you Grandma always and forever.
The church family will miss Ruth’s presence with us on Sundays. She was always thinking of others. She always remembered the kids. Her daughters continue her legacy.
So sorry to hear of Aunt Ruth’s passing, sincere condolences to all of you, she will be forever in your heart.
