Anthony Casella
Tony spent most of his life on Asbury Station road in Swedesboro growing up on Casella Bros. family farm. During his childhood, he unknowingly met his future wife Barbara when she and her family lived just down the street, he was 8 and she was 5. Barbara and her family relocated to California and later to Louisiana. Their parents stayed in touch through the years and the two reconnected when they were 18 and 21. Wedding bells rang and Tony and Barbara started their life together on Asbury Station Road. They were later blessed with two sons, John and Anthony. Through the years, Tony and Barbara raised their family, enjoyed snowmobiling through the farmlands, (and the local roads). Additionally, Tony was the Philadelphia Eagles biggest fan. In fact, he had season tickets for his whole family for many years as he felt he could help the Eagles best by giving the team his “personal opinion” from within the stadium. He and his wife then turned their entrepreneurial spirits to Murphy’s Market and later Anthony’s Hallmark; both staples of the community. His family expanded when his eldest son John and his wife Sandy blessed them with two Grandchildren; Anthony Jay and John Jr. Tony’s son Anthony and his wife Suzanne blessed them with two Grandchildren as well; Anthony Jr. and Alena.
Through all of his years Tony’s culinary expertise always was a favorite of friends and family and no one ever left hungry. He also maintained his “green thumb” throughout his life as he always had an expansive garden to harvest from, including retirement, when he and Barbara moved to Country Gardens in Sewell. His new neighbors quickly realized this by the expansive potted garden that sprouted every year on their patio. Tony and his wife quickly made friends where he enjoyed Bocce matches when it was warm and everyone knew that when it snowed, it was time to go to Tony’s for his homemade pizza.
Tony traveled extensively with his wife exploring many countries and cities across 5 continents and especially loved cruising on at least 15 cruises.
He is survived by a sister, Angela Harding and was predeceased by parents John and Lena, and a brother Samuel.
Come celebrate a wonderful 79 years of life Saturday at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 8:30 – 11:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church at Noon. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

I was saddened to hear of Tony’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of loss. Sorry I am not able to stop by to see you in person, but know that I am with you in thought at this time.

Our deepest sympathy on the passing of Tony. He was a wonderful loving husband, father and friend to many. I was glad to call him family. May he now rest with the angels until the snow falls then he will be out in Heavens fields on his snowmobile with all the family and frinds waiting for him to join the gang again.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. He was great man, loving husband, father and grandfather. He will surely be missed by many. He was a great cook too! Never knew what he would make at the market, so something so good and warming especially in the winter months. I was so blessed to know all of you and work with you for so many years, great friends that I will cherish always. Again so very sorry to hear of Tony passing.

I am saddened with the death of Tony as a friend and a past farmer and neighbor. I am also saddened that I will not be able to be with you for the celebration on his Mass as I am on a retreat. I will remember you all as we celebrate mass here.
