Ruth Shaffer Dando

Ruth Shaffer Dando

Ruth had a large family yet still always had more room on her lap for one more child.  And her loving nature was on full display when she was a school bus aide for handicapped children in Cape May County.  She had several jobs: waitress at the Airport restaurant in Bridgeport, cashier for K Mart, she ran a boarding house in Woodbury, and for some time had a gift shop in Edinburgh, Va.  When her kids misbehaved her words were wait until your father gets home or go outside in the fresh air.  Her grandchildren had her full attention.  Ruth doted on them playing all sorts of board games; her favorite was Dominos.  While working in DuPont’s cafeteria she met the late Clifford Dando, the love of her life.  They settled in Woodbine.  Ruth opened an antique store there: R and W Antiques.  She was the mother of Vickie (Carmen) Simonelli, Gregory (Jerri) Shaffer, and Michael Shaffer; sister of Harry (Kathy) Munyan; grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of many. She was predeceased by 3 children: Steven Shaffer, Donald Shaffer and Julia Shaffer, and a grandson, Jonathan Simonelli.

Come celebrate 82 great years Saturday February 22 11a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro where there will be a 1 p.m. service.  Interment Lake Park Cemetery.
