Andy Redkoles, Loved Farm Life
It is with great sadness that the family of Andy Redkoles, 89 years old, of Center Square, share his passing on June 17, 2020. Andy suffered a stroke and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Andy was born on August 20, 1930 to Nicholas and Fannie Redkoles. He was the youngest of their eight children. In his early years, Andy attended Center Square Elementary School, a three room schoolhouse, along with his siblings. He then went on to become a 1949 graduate of Swedesboro High School, where he played on the football team as their captain and quarterback.
Andy farmed his entire life. Along with his family, Andy was blessed to have celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Redkoles Farm on Christmas Eve. (December 19, 1919 to December 19, 2019.) His passion and pride resided in growing beautiful and delicious Jersey tomatoes. Andy loved his farm. He was married to it. He was an inspiration to so many, working on his tractor and farm from sun-up to sun-down. His customers eagerly awaited the “first picking” of Andy’s tomatoes and some came from New Brunswick, New York City, and Jersey shore points. Andy maintained a beautiful farm and property. He loved and was very good to his farm workers, and they loved and respected him in return. For many years he was a member of the Swedesboro Auction.
In Andy’s leisure time, he enjoyed “rolling the dice” in Atlantic City. Andy also enjoyed watching horse racing and football games, along with attending his nephews and great-nephews sporting events.
Andy was often described as a gentleman, hero, legend, mentor, and friend. He was a very kind and generous man who would help anyone in need.
Above all, Andy’s greatest joy in life was his family. He loved and cared for each one of them throughout the years. He was loved and admired by both the Redkoles and Paranzino families and will be missed and remembered forever.
Andy is survived by his devoted sister, Anna Paranzino, loving nephew – Tom Paranzino and his wife, Kathy, loving great-nephews, Tommy and Jimmy Paranzino, loyal niece who helped care for him, Margie Ann Redkoles, faithful nieces – Linda Redkoles Baldo, Arleen Zalewski, and Joan Hyatt (Phillip), caring nephews, John Redkoles (Alfina), Steve Redkoles, Eugene Zalewski (Angela), and Walter Redkoles, and Special People, Sonny Still, Michael Redkoles, Stanley Kupsey and Family, and many adoring great-nieces, great-nephews and wonderful friends. Andy was pre-deceased by his parents, Nicholas and Fannie Redkoles, his sister, Olga Zalewski, his brothers, John, Peter, Nicholas, Steven “Chip,” and Paul “Babe”.
Come celebrate 89 great years Sunday 3-7 p.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro. Please wear masks and observe social distancing. Service and burial will be private due to Covid restrictions.
