Elizabeth Peacock

Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne Peacock, nee Sinkleris, 56, of Riverside, died suddenly at her home on Monday, February 16th, 2009. A lifelong resident of Riverside, she graduated from Riverside High School in 1971 and attended beauty school at the Wilfred Academy.rnrnA loving wife, a devoted mother and an amazing grandmother, family was the most important thing in Betsy’s life. She was the driving force behind events, dinners and holidays and that force was compelled by unconditional love. There is nothing that she wouldn’t do for her family, her friends or anyone in need. Her creative skills provided them with everything from homemade Halloween costumes and beautiful dresses to crocheted scarves. And if any of her children stopped by, she was always ready and willing to provide a meal big enough to feed an army. To say that she just cut hair would be an incredible understatement; to sit in her chair was to get treated with love, laughter and a great deal of care.rnrnA friendship of many years blossomed into a 24 year marriage when Betsy and George “Skip” Peacock, Jr. wed. The marriage between them brought together the Peacocks and Ringers, but her motherly instincts made them a family. Their home was filled with their children: George “Toby” Peacock III (Danielle) of New Egypt, Jeremy Peacock (Jamie) of Cinnaminson, Joseph Ringer (Tara) of Cinnaminson, Amanda Ringer of Palmyra, and Rachel Peacock of Riverside. Her life was again blessed by the addition of her 5 grandchildren: Christina, Nate, Grace, Jackson, and Lauryn. Predeceased by her father, Andrew C. Sinkleris and her nephew Frank Gregory Sinkleris, Betsy is also survived by her mother Elizabeth Sinkleris and her brother, Andrew C. Sinkleris Jr. (Penny) both of Riverside along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.rnrnCome celebrate 56 wonderful years Friday from 9 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church, Palmyra, where the Memorial Service will be at 11. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Autism Speaks at www.autismspeaks.org. Arrangements by the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.

  19. Tim Little says:

Betsey began cutting my mothers hair at the salon probably arouund the mid ’90’s. My mom so looked forward to those salon appointments because of Betsey! As my Mom became increasingly more ill, Betsey volunteered to come to my Moms house, any finally to her bedside to give my Mom the most needed only real dignity that comes with “having your hair done” and even more importantly the friendship and kindness that only Betsey could provide. My mom loved Betsey, and so did I for that. I guess my Mom said off handedly to Betsey that she wished I would have children. My Mom passed without seeing my son, but me being a long time customer of the salon, Betsey knew I had a son. Well, Besey croched the most bueatiful blue blanket for Christopher, which is still currently on his bed.The only reason Betsey can be gone is because someone else ,bigger than all of us , needs Betseys’ extra special brand of kind, sincere, and loving help.I am very sad.Our world has certainly lost one top knotch person and we are going to miss her. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends. Tim Little.

My condolences to Betsy’s family. I met Betsy at Curves in Edgewater Park about ten years ago. Besides being such a sweet, friendly person I liked Betsy’s hair and told her so. I’ve enjoyed our talks about friends and family and about life. I am so sorry for your loss.

Skip,rnI was heartsick to learn of Betsy’s passing. Words pale at a time such as this. “I’m sorry”, just doesn’t seem like enough to convey the depth of emotions that I feel at this time. A friend of mine lost her husband this summer and someone wrote that “the world lost one of it’s bright lights the day they learned of her husband’s death”. I think that is an apt description for Betsy. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers.

  55. Valerie Alves says:

I began working w/Betsy in 2001,and knew immediately when she introduced herself, shook my hand, and welcomed me to Regis, she was a special lady and she became one of my closest co-workers/friends.rnrn She had a light that shined so bright. She was young, sassy and so full of life and she was one of very few who could make me laugh so hard with her quick wit. rnrn We as co-workers have been through so much together..had many heart to hearts about the things that laid heavy on our hearts along with all the special times in our lives .rnrn I knew as well as everyone that Betsy was the one we could go to, to trust and confide in, ask advice of and it would never go beyond that.rnrn I admired her in so many ways. She is wihout a doubt one of the kindest, sweetest, giving, and most caring people I have ever met.rnrn Everyone that was fortunate enough to know her, knew she lived for her family being a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother .. etc. and friend. rn

Just recently she was so proud showing me a picture on her cell phone of disney princess halloween costumes she had made for her granddaughters and told me how they wore them in the park on their recent trip to Disney World. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met. My family and I will truly miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. May you find peace and comfort in all your wonderful memories.

  72. Lyne Morris says:

fondest memeory of Besty. She was telling me of a resturant she had recently been to, and about the big salad bar they had there. Apparently they had recently installed a sneeze gard, which was proving to be more an obsticle that stood between Betsy and the food. She told me (and this is my fond memory part), how she was so hungry, and how “that” sneeze gaurd was “in the way”, that she demonstrated to me how she had her forhead pressed against the shield..! rnI to this day, get a chuckle when I think back to this memory of Besty.

I can’t begin to describe the kind of person Betsy was, let alone the kind of mother she was to me. The past 6 1/2 years of my life were truly blessed and will not be forgotten. She welcomed me into the family as if I were her own. She became an instant role model to me right from the beginning. I always admired the love she had for her family, especially Skip and her children. I wanted to be just like her and was not shy about telling her that. Betsy was a wonderful woman. My mom and I started getting our hair done by Betsy about 8 years ago. When we found out Betsy suddenly passed away, we couldn’t believe it. It still just doesn’t seem real. Betsy was one of the sweetest, and kindest woman we’ll ever meet. She was more than just our hairdresser she was our friend. My mom and I always looked forward to our hair appointments with Betsy. I will always remember her friendly “Hello’s” and all our conversations about our families, shopping, and broadway plays. And joking around telling Betsy I wished she lived next door to do my hair every morning, because I could never get my hair to look as good as she could. My mom and I were blessed to have known such a great woman! She will be greatly missed, and holds a very special place in our hearts. Thank you for all the great memories Betsy! We will always remember you! Regis won’t be the same.rnOur Deepest sympathy to Betsy’s Family. rnLove Always,rnKristi & Mary Ann Devlin

  83. Gene and Denise says:

We were not only shocked, but saddened beyond words about the news of Betsy’s tragic and sudden death. Betsy was one of my dearest and closest friends. Though I moved away from Riverside, she always had a special place in my heart. Gene still remembers the first day he met her at Hooker Chemical (and what fun she was to work with) and I still remember the first day I met her in freshman English class at RHS; the beginning of a cherished and lifelong friendship. She was a shining star who will live on in the hearts of those she loved and whose lives she impacted. We grieve ourselves over her death, but even moreso for you, Skip, and also for all “the kids”, Andy and Penny, Mrs. Sinkleris, and for all her nieces, nephews and children who loved her dearly. You were all much loved by her and I know that love will continue to transform your lives. rnrnOur deepest sympathy to you all, rnrnLove, Gene and Denise

It is a shock that someone so full or life and light could so suddenly leave this world. “Aunt Betsy” will always be remembered as a wonderful mother to all, a beautiful, strong woman, and a fun-loving friend. She will be missed. I loved and adored her. She passed her spirit and values to her amazing family, and my thoughts are with them. Skip, Joe, Mandy, Rachel, Beth, Aunt Penny, and all: I hope the fond memories of Betsy and the knowledge that she valued life and loved you so much will give you strength and peace.

  85. Melissa Panza says:

Mrs. Peacock filled our apartment with warmth, love and sweets for every occasion 🙂 Though we did not live close, for the past four years she has felt like a second mother to my roommates and I, always making sure she had something for us to send back with Rachel. There is no doubt in my mind that she brought smiles and happiness to the lives of all who knew her, just as she did ours. My deepest sympathy goes out to Rachel and the whole family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Misa

  87. Debbie (Wills) Roe says:

When I think of all the memories in school with Betsy, all the times I ran into her shopping, or at Regis and talking about our children and grandchildren, I feel such a void in my heart to know that I will never see her smiling face again.

  88. Pam Whitehouse says:

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of Betsy’s family as they begin to go on with their lives. Betsy will always be with them – she will watch over all of them day and night like only Betsy could. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and hair dresser and although she will be missed terribly, it is not good-bye, it is just “see you later.” She will be waiting patiently for each of us as we arrive with her scissors in one hand and the blow dryer in the other and a pan of chicken enchiladas in the oven and brownies on the table, individually decorated accordingly!

  89. Robert and Rebecca Eiler says:

We just learned of Betsy’s passing today 2/27 – it was such a complete shock and we are truly speechless. Betsy has been our stylist for over 8 years. She was even kind enough to get up at 6:00 am on a Sunday and do all of the girls’ hair for our wedding back in 2002. rnrnIt was always such a treat to visit Betsy for a cut. We were always greeted with a “Hello Kelly/Mike” and “How are you doing”. She always gave our daughter a lollipop when she was getting her hair done.rnrnShe made you feel like family – she always spoke of her husband, kids & grandkids…you were the light of her life. We feel like we practically are a part of the family after hearing all of the stories through the years. rnrnFriends of ours lived down the street from her mother in Riverside so that was another connection we had with her. rnrnBesty truly was a special woman – one of the sweetest and nicest people we ever met. I always felt that her children were blessed to have such a great mother. I imagine she was the “cool mom” that all of the kids’ friends loved.rnrnShe was a beautiful soul who will be missed by more people than can be imagined. The world just won’t be the same without her. With my Deepest Sympathy to Mrs. Sinkleris (Betsy’s Mom), Skip, Sinkleris, Ringer, and Peacock families. I just recently learned of the loss of Betsy. I met her when she worked at Sakura’s in Mt Holly. It was not hard to be friends with her as a co-worker. She always had a smile on her face, and a beautiful personality. I bumped into her at Clover Dept.store and she told me she had become a suzy homemaker. She was just doing a little extra shopping for Christmas as she was having the Children put handprints with their names on a white tee, for Grandmom. She always went out of her way to do a little extra. When she was making Christmas Cards out with Skip, she told him, she knew me. He then told me he was dating Betsy. I knew that was a great combination that brought happiness to Betsy. I saw her after Skip had his heart attack and I was blocking traffic and we could not talk. I wish I had spent more time with her.rnI am just so shocked and heart sick, that I will never see this special friend again.rnSkip, Thank you for making Betsy happy! I will never forget her smile and laughter! God Bless You and Your Family! With condolences, rnElaine Klimkowskirn
