Herbert knew that money won was twice as sweet as money earned. If there was a trip to the casino or a game of Texas Hold’em, you could always count him in. With his never-ending supply of jokes and stories, you certainly want him there anyway. And although he never missed a chance to take a shot at someone, his quips like a rubber sword, they’d make a point without drawing blood. Herbert had served with the Fire Department in Trevose, PA for more than ten years, and continued on with the Beverly Emergency Squad when he moved here 4 years ago. Although he did this out of a sense of civil duty, it also added to his repertoire of stories to tell. rnHerbert is survived by his children: Cindy Borden (Mark) of Beverly, Jaqulin Lopez (Richard) of Fl, Frances Phipps (Barry) of LA, Michael (Pamela) of FL and David of FL. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, his mother Elizabeth Chaney of ND, his sister Diane Huntsberger of ND and his longtime companion Nancy Boyd of Beverly.rnCome celebrate 68 wonderful years Monday from 6 PM at the Beverly Emergency Squad 703 Melbourne Ave, where the service will be at 7. Int. Private.

Herb will never leave my memory. Always good for a joke or wisecracker comment. Like a Grandpop to my boys,Bobby and Nick, treated them like his own. A great friend to me – could always make me smile. I was trying to fit in at TFC when I first joined. He made that possible. Our favorite joke was how my tattoo fell off. He taught me how to make his chicken dish that the boys still call “Herb’s Firehouse Chicken”. He sat with me at the banquet and we even danced. I will never forget you baby. To the end he was still my Herb. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled.
Herb, I am very sorry to see you leave this place, You will always be missed. When I seen you last, We talked and you did remember our date and dancing. You even remembered my back rubs, and asked me for one. Yes, You were always there when I needed to talk and I was there for you. Life won’t be the same without you. Thank You for being such a very good close friend to me and a Father figure to Paul and Sharon. I’ve known you for a long time. From Trevose Fire Company and Langhorne Fire Company. You are now in a better place. I can see you now, Up there cracking jokes, being a smarty with your wisecracks making people laugh. Herb, One day we will meet again. Enjoy your family that you haven’t seen for awhile. Be waiting for the ones here on earth. Now you see, There is no more pain or suffering up in Heaven, I will always have a place in my heart for you…rnLove You Herb. Till we meet again, Your Friend, Sue
I’ll never be able to describe Herb well enough in words. He was an incredibly smart man with a heart of gold. He definitely helped shape me into the man I am today and I know I will miss him deeply. May he be at peace. I just hope the angels are prepared for his unique brand of humor.
I am so sorry for your loss. Herb was an awesome man to be around. I only knew him for a short time in the last 5 years but it was enough to remember him for a lifetime. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Thank you for letting us share in his remembrance at a time when you all are also hurting so much. I am sorry I won’t be able to make it tonight but with 2 little ones myself coming from Delaware would be difficult. Please accept my families condolences and our deepest sympathy on the loss of Herb. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. My sister Darlene Herritt, will be there this evening, wearing a skirt just for Herb, as would I if I could be there. rnIn love and prayers,rnArlene CollierrnSmyrna, DE
