Barbara – Colameco
Priority one for Barbara was her home and family. She’d think nothing of turning down an extravagant trip just to spend time with her kids. She never missed one of their games and there was no doubt that she was having the time of her life at every one; she was proud to come home with a sore throat after every game. If you were around Barbara any time after Thanksgiving, you knew that she surrounded herself with seasonal music all day long and turned her Swedesboro home into a Christmas village. She was more inclined to reach for a romance novel or a book of poetry than to turn on the T.V. She loved a good concert and her taste for music was eclectic: Pink Floyd, Chris Daughtry,Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi. Her favorite was U2. She put her all into cheering on the Phils, Birds and Nova basketball. Her garden was beautiful; she got much satisfaction in seeing the fruits of her own hard work. Barbara had a mind for numbers; she was a 1978 graduate of West Chester University with a degree in finance and was previously the financial officer for Powertech, Inc. She later double checked all the numbers for Wellshire Farms, Inc. the company she co-founded with her husband. Lou leaned on her heavily: if he had a question she knew the answer. Even through three years of fighting breast cancer Barbara wasted little time thinking of herself. She noticed that others who were less fortunate were unable to make their appointment and treatments due to the fact that they had no transportation. In response, she began her work with the Greater Philadelphia Cancer Transportation Fund which helps patients who are less fortunate receive vouchers for transportation to and from medical appointments, medicines, and for baseline testings. She will be remembered by all for her beauty and her light and her kind and generous spirit.rnLou and Barb were best friends. They were just days away from being married for 24 wonderful years. Their union was blessed by three children: Jessica and twins, Matthew and Thomas. She is also survived by parents Lyndel and Lois Hartshorne, a brother, Steven, lots of aunts and cousins, six brothers and sisters in law and 11 nieces and nephews. Come celebrate 53 family centered years Tuesday 8-12 noon at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro. Service will be 1 p.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Dear Lou and family,rnI only met Barbara this past holidays when I stopped by Wellshire. In the few minutes we shared stories, she glowed when she spoke proudly of her family. It was easy to see that was what made her life. And as I left, she gave me a heartfelt and warm hug which I will always remember her by. My sincere condolences for your sorrow and grievious loss. Dear Lou and family:nnFrom my myself, my family and the family here at the Twin Shoppe let us all express our deepest sympathy on Barbara’s death. The hurt from the loss of such a wonderful confidant and life companion can never be healed. But that is the price we pay for loving someone so dearly and so intimately. As you have been so gracious and generous to so many people, now lean on their support and prayers at this time. May the angels lead Barbara into paradise. May she bless all of us with her thoughts and prayers, as she now enjoys the pleasure of God’s presence for all eternity.
Barb had the cheeriest hello for everyone. She had a way of making you feel that she was really glad to hear from you no matter what was going on with her. We will truly miss her.
Jim and I are truly saddened by the loss of someone so special. We will never forget her cheerful attitude all the time. We feel honored to have been close friends for years with many fond memories that we will cherish.

In your life you meet all different types of people. I have been fortunate to meet many, many people and I can honestly say that Barb was one of the kindest, most beautiful( on the inside and out )people that I have ever had the privilege to know. She exuded warmth and class, she was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, co worker and friend. She loved to live, laugh and love. I will never forget her. May she rest in peace. Earth will forever miss her but heaven is lucky to have her.
I had the pleasure of meeting Lou and Barb 10 years ago at the Old Swedes Inn. They would come in for lunch every Friday, and We bacame fast friends. I have met many people over the years, but can honestly say, Barb was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I am privleged to have known her personally, a beautiful lady inside and out. We will miss you Barb.
I am blessed for having known & worked with Barb. She had the kindest, sweetest spirit ~ and always looked for the brighter better side in everyone. She will be greatly missed by all those lives she touched. My heartfelt condolences to Lou, Jess, Tom & Matt
Where do I begin? Barbara was my cousin. I have known her all my life, but she was also my lifelong friend. She was always a very caring and kind person, but also full of life and fun and laughter. I have so many wonderful memories of her. We were always excited when we found out our families were getting together. When we were young we sometimes crawled through the ductwork in her familys home to hide from our brothers (there was an access point in her bedroom closet and one in the laundry room at the opposite side of the house) or got wet and muddy playing in the stream behind her house. As we got older, we sometimes took long walks together, talking about whatever was going on in our lives at the time. She was in my wedding – a number of years later I was in hers. As the years went by and we became moms, we often discussed our kids and our parents, more recently sharing our thoughts on how to guide teenagers and young adults and how to let go and trust them to make wise choices. Even as she fought breast cancer, her main concern was for her family, not herself. My family greatly enjoyed sharing Easter each year with Barb, Lou and their children, and assorted parents, aunts and uncles. She died much too young, leaving a void no one else can fill – she will be greatly missed. nn
I am an old friend of Barbara’s from back before she met Lou and have great memories of a warm, caring and fun individual. I am so sorry for your loss Lou, I only met you once but it only took that one time to realize how perfectly suited you two were and how lucky you were to have found each other. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Barb was a very awesome person. She had the friendliest personality. She was my mom’s best friend and she helped her because she cared so much about her. They had been friends since they were 12 years old!rn Every summer, we would take a trip down to her NJ house and me and my sister would play with her kids. We had so much fun and the BBQs were always so amazing. She knew I was a huge Genesis, and as a gift, gave me some of her Genesis records. I’ll never forget that and I will always keep them in memory of her. rnShe was one of the coolest people ever and I will never forget her. My sympathies and condolences to the Harchorne and Colameco families.
