Although is has been noted that no collector knows his true motivation, everything Dale collected reflects what he cared about. Never afraid to show his patriotism, his home in Riverside was adorned with countless American flags and statues of Bald Eagles. He had a record assortment that could rival the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but like any true music lover, Elvis was king. And while his fascination for the Old West was satisfied by his many books on the subject, he always preferred to see John Wayne’s interpretation. Dale worked for National Gypsum in Burlington for 20 years. But never one with idle hands, he often spent his spare time scrapping any metal he came across, taking trips to Atlantic City and he was always up for a good meal.rnIn the 1960s Dale would meet Thelma O’Neill, they would remain life companions till her passing in 2000. He is survived by his son Charlie Preston and his fiancé Anita Roberts of OH, and is the brother of Patty O’Neill-Rybeck (Paul) of Palmyra, Robert O’Neill of Riverside and Joseph Holt (Carolyn) of Riverside, is predeceased by his brother Sonny, and sisters Sissy and Josephine and is also survived by his nieces and nephews. rnrnrnCome celebrate Dale’s 65 years Friday from 6-8 PM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
