Harry Fisher

Generosity consists not of what is given, but how it’s bestowed. Harry was generous in all things, but it was often seen in his cooking. From the time he voluntarily traded in his World War II Air Force wings for mess hall apron strings, to when he owned Fisher’s Chicken Holiday in Cinnaminson, to when he cooked hundreds of crab balls simply to spoil his neighbors, he was always ready to share his culinary creations. With his outgoing personality, never-ending supply of jokes and distinctive laughter, everyone who crossed his path left with a smile. Trips to the supermarket often took 3 hours, and services at Zion Lutheran Church will never be the same without him. The room got loud and the laughter became contagious at any social outing he attended; most notably with the Delran Senior Citizen Club, the Over 55 Club, the Riverfront Seniors and the Cinnaminson Community Choir. rnrnBefore his wife Jennie’s passing in 1993, their lives included their daughters Joyce and April, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But years later, while working at the Moorestown Friends School dining hall, a student’s grandmother caught his eye. It wouldn’t be long until he and Florence were married and dancing at Stardust Ballroom, senior proms and more recently, Saturday nights with Lawrence Welk at their home in Delran. As an added bonus he had many wonderful memories with her daughter Denice, son-in-law John, and her grandson Bobby.rnrnHarry’s 88 wonderful years (Dec. 3, 1921-Sept. 13, 2010) were celebrated privately.
