Viola “Vi” Isabel Damask (nee Ladyman) of Swedesboro died on October 16, 2010 at the age of 84 at home with her family by her side.rnVi was born on September 29, 1926 to Hattie and Thomas Ladyman in Zenith Missouri. Vi grew up in Bloomington Indiana and went to Bloomington High School. Vi and her sister, Helen, then went to Washington, DC to work at the Pentagon. It was in Washington DC where she would meet the love of her life on a blind date. Vi and Kimon married on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1946 in Indiana. Once married Vi and Kimon moved to Swedesboro and had two children, Kimberly and Karen and have been married 64 years.rnVi worked for the family business, Damask Candies, and then went on to be the Administrative Secretary for the Walter Hill School in Swedesboro for twenty years. Vi was involved in the Swedesboro bowling league and card club. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, casinos, Phillies, the shore, traveling, her grandkids and was the best pie maker around. For anyone who ever knew Vi knew that she was the most intelligent, proud, and elegant women you would ever lay eyes on. She was a beautiful lady and will be missed by all.rnVi is survived by her husband, Kimon and daughters, Karen (Bob) Trace and Kimberly Ruppert. She was the dear Mom-Mom of Nicole Johnson and Krystin (Brian) Hercker, GG (Known by her great grandchildren): Brad Johnson, Brenna and Jax Hercker. And is also survived by her sister, Helen Knight and brother, Thomas Ladyman.rnFriends and relatives are invited to attend Viola’s Memorial Service on Thursday at 11:30 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1208 Kings Hwy., Swedesboro with calling from 11 AM.rn
