Albert Kilcher

“Nothing valuable arises from mere ambition or duty, rather from deep devotion” – Einstein. In all his endeavors, Albert always had the deepest commitment. While growing up in Atlantic City, he focused all his attention on his school work, his family and the varsity ice hockey team. When he laid down his skates and took up arms to defend his nation during WWII and the Korean War, his dedication was solely to his country and the Navy. Aboard the USS Charles R. Ware and the the USS Erickson, he toured through Italy and North Africa. When the wars ended, his sense of exploration only grew and his travels took him through Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California. Returning to New Jersey in the late 1950’s, he met and married Mary Demetoglous and together they raised their daughter Michele.rnrnAlbert spent his career as a chef, working at several restaurants in the area including, the Holly House, the Rickshaw, Flo’s Lakside Tavern and the Sheraton Post. In addition to his work and family, he was devoted to literature and art and the continued pursuit of knowledge.rnrnAlbert was pre-deceased by his wife Mary(nee Demetoglous), his parents, Jacques and Ida Kilcher, his two brothers, Jacques and Walter, and three sisters, Wilhelmina, Elsie and Ida. He is survived by his daughter and son-in -law, Michele and James Reilly of Lawrenceville, NJ, and their two daughters, Megan Elizabeth and Allison Mary. He is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews.rnrnCome celebrate his 88 years (June 7, 1921 – Feb. 26, 2010) Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Service to follow at 11:30AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Riverside. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park.
