August Polino

From the moment his feet hit the floor in the morning, August gave his all. Only occasionally did he feel the need to leave Riverside: it was one square mile of joy. He had Boost in his veins. He loved a good joke and was always ready with one of his own. His family loved the sounds of his laughing at Rodney Dangerfield or Johnathan Winters. He was a hard worker. He started out as a plumber, worked in the insurance industry, and was an installer at Hoeganaes till his retirement. Later years found him enjoying mornings with the Koffee Club, then he’d be off to play some golf. He was always active at St. Pete’s and was a 4th degree Knight and previous Grand Knight in Knights of Columbus, St. John Newman Council. He loved his country: at the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. He suffered with the Eagles and Phils.rnA girl named Rose saw a young August dance the jitterbug at the Riverside Firehouse. Their 63 year marriage was blessed by three sons: A. Richard (Jennifer), Steven T., and Michael J.; and 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry and Anthony.rnCome celebrate 83 great years Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 9-10 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10:30 at St. Peter’s Church, Riverside. Interment private.rn
