Only an aunt can give hugs like a mother, keep secrets like a sister and share love like a friend. Claire’s nieces and nephew were the center of her universe. From the days when she would take them to the airport to watch the planes land, or even if they just stayed home and played board games, there was no place she would rather be. But she was her happiest at Christmas time. Armed with more presents than Santa, her nieces and nephew waited with bated breath for her arrival. The tradition continued with the next generation. She made it a point to try to take each of them to see the Nutcracker. Whether it was with Verizon in Philadelphia, or years earlier at Ma Bell, Claire loved her job. But when she did have time off, nothing made her happier than eating a fine dinner in the city, and she was always up for travel.rnClaire is survived by her sister Mary Fogarty (James) of Delran, two nieces, a nephew, eight great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephew.rnCome celebrate Claire’s 74 wonderful years (April 16, 1936-Dec. 9, 2010) Tuesday 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
