Obituary for Edna M. Thompson
Edna passed away peacefully on June 24,2014. She was a lifelong Mickleton resident where her home served as the local Post Office for 40 years. Edna displayed dedication and work ethic in serving as Postmaster during these years. She also took great pride in taking care of her home on Kings Highway. She meticulously decorated her front porch and yard with beautiful flowers and bows, changing them to coordinate with each season. Edna was an exceptional cook, often hosting family holiday dinners at her home. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to locations with beautiful beaches. In addition, Edna gave many hours working on the Little Red School House Committee.
She is a survived by her daughter, Carol Gahrs and granddaughter, Cheryl Pine. She is also survived by several grandchildren , great grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Edna was pre-deceased by her daughter, Sandra Richardson, grandson, Robert Richardson, and brother, Dr. Walter Held.
A private graveside service was held at Eglington Cemetery.

Carol’s Mother was always very kind to me. I have been “best friends” with Carol since grammar school and I was always welcome in their home. I will always remember eating “hot peppers” in a hoagie and creamed spinach for the first time in Carol’s parents home plus Mrs. Thompson made the best iced tea. Goodbye, dear lady! Thanks for all the great Mickleton memories.
It was a distinct pleasure delivering the mail to her office while I was a postal employee. One of the most pleasant person you could ever meet. A teriffic postmaster. She will be missed. The postal service and the people of Mickleton and people who knew her are a lot poorer because of her passing. Rest in peace, Edna.

I grew up directly across the street in Mickleton. Lots of lovely memories of Mrs. Thompson…..the post office (my mom working there for several years…..seeing people going in for their mail and even though I needed glasses and couldn’t see…but didn’t know at the time…I knew who each person was from their walk…….how cool is it to just go across the street for your mail?!)……riding to high school with Carol. Memories are what keep you going, no one can take them away from you…hold tight to them. Hugs.
I spent many day and nights at Mrs. Thompson’s home with her Granddaughter Cheryl. She was always so kind and generous to me. We went many places together and I always enjoyed being with them. I am very sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to Cheryl, Carol and the rest of the family. Rest in peace, Mrs. Thompson.
Very cool indeed! Though BookGlutton is a lot more than Wired let on. Thompson kinda let his rrdaees down in not highlighting some of the tools you guys have in place. BG offers a better dynamic than just simply discuss books .So here’s to hoping people clicked through the article to experience BookGlutton themselves. Kudos!
I think Mexico is a great idea! I’ve been making food from aronud the world with my mummy & so far enchiladas from Mexico have been my favourite! It’s been fun tasting different food & learning about different countries. Although
