James “Babe” Lallo Jr.
“It’s actually wise to count your chickens before they hatch, it’s nearly impossible when they’re all running about” – Oscar Wilde. At his home in Delran, Babe kept everything from horses, to goats, to ducks, but his favorite was always the chickens. They weren’t a food supply, they were a reflection of his love of animals. A true outdoorsman, he was always up to go camping, fishing or hunting. Even when at home he could normally be found in his garden, growing everything from tomatoes and string beans to grapes and figs. True to his Italian roots he loved to cook. At home it was pasta fagioli, and those in his hunting party would usually find a bowl of hot stew waiting after a long day. Regardless of what was happening in life, you could bet he’d be in a good mood. Blessed with a light-hearted demeanor, he always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face.
As a young man, Babe came across a girl named Joan (nee Winkelspecht) picking cherries. She instantly liked him, but her dad did not approve. Despite her father’s disapproval, often made clear via his shotgun, the two were wed in 1957, and eventually Babe and his father-in-law became the best of friends. Together, Babe and Joan were blessed by their sons: Ron (Rhonda) of Delanco, Mike (Lin) of Delran, Ed of Riverside, Rob (Patti) of PA, Ken (Mary) of Delran, Jim (Tina) of Riverside, Brian (Christine) of Waterford, and the late James Dominic, and again by their 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Babe is also survived by his sister, Angelina Swain of AL and his dog, Willie.
Come celebrate Babe’s 80 wonderful years (Sept. 13, 1933-Aug. 9, 2014) Thursday from 9 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will be at 11 AM. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Our Little Hero C.O.P. Down Syndrome Buddy Walk, P.O. Box 441, Mt. Holly, NJ 08060.

Gina although I didn’t know him I want to give you my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your loved one! He sounds like a great person! And he still is?… He just lives with God now and will always be around you and your family reminds me of my dad! God bless you and may he rest in peace in the good

Great memories of my childhood living across the street from the lallo family our horses cycle riding too much to mention. Babe you always made me laugh then and when I would see you recently rest in peace now tell my dad hi in heaven. ..
Joan, Babe was a good guy. I can’t make the service however, I thoughts and prayers will be you and the family.
Joan and family- what can any of us say….some people come into our lives and simply leave an impact from the very first moment…one that remains a lifetime. How else can you describe cousin Babe. Babe, Joan and the boys have been such a significant part of our family’s life as far back as I can recall. Especially, for my father, Nickie. I am sure he is doing all those things that he loved so much just in a better place and he is smiling down and watching over all of us. He will be truly missed, until we meet again….RIP cousin Babe- we love you…

He was always a great guy.. i remember spending many times at his home when I was young.. I was just telling my wife about all the chickens and animals.. what great memories.. Rest in peace Uncle Babe.. you have touched the lives of so many people.
Our most sincere condolences go out to Joan & the entire Lallo family. From all the stories Rob has told us, Babe was a great husband, dad, grandfather, & great grandfather. You knew that family was so important to him & I know he was so proud of all his sons & their families.

Joan, Babe was a great person we always enjoy talking to him. He loved his family very much you have great memories of him. He will be missed, your in our prayers.

MR. LALLO WAS ONE OF THE NICEST CUSTOMERS I WAITED ON AT RIVERSIDE DRUG.ALWAYS PLEASANT NO MATTER HOW BAD HE HURT.HE WAS A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE FOR ALL OF US.
I AM GRIEVING FOR YOU ALL AND MYSELF AS WE SPEAK BECAUSE I WILL NOT SEE HIS SMILING FACE UNTIL MEET AGAIN.I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT GETTING TO THE SERVICES,I HAD TO WORK.
The sadness I felt when I heard the news was not nearly what the Lallo family felt I’m sure but I do know that this world lost a very special person
