Joseph J Kowaleski

It’s been said that every oak tree starts as a nut that decides to stand its ground. Perhaps as unmovable as the oak, for Joe it was his way or the highway. You could always be sure he would say it like it was and never wear a fake façade. He loved to hunt and fish, traveling as far as Canada for the adventure of it. But, on the other hand, he raised just about every animal possible at his home in Delran. Horses, ducks, rabbits, geese, dogs, cats and even box turtles, any creature that crossed his path found a loving home. He loved cars, and customized them as a young man. In his later years, no week was complete without him washing his cars while blasting Elvis loud enough for the neighbors to hear. But he was never without a motorcycle. For Joe, four wheels moved the body, but two wheels moved the soul. He loved his job, and spent 45 years with PSE&G. But come the weekend, he was always up for grabbing a few beers and a game of pool at the VFW, PAC or the Moose Lodge.rn As a young man, Joe met a woman named Barbara (nee Tieman) while she was working at her father’s gas station. He would eventually convince her to take a drive with him; it wasn’t long until their life together would begin. They were blessed by their children: Joanne D’Agostino (Joseph) of Riverside and Joseph Kowaleski, Sr. (Hope) of Delran, and their grandchildren: Kayla Margaret Kelly, Kaytlynn Mary D’Agostino and Joseph Raymond Kowaleski, Jr. He is also survived by his brother Leonard(fiancée Judy McDowell) of Delran.rn Come celebrate Joe’s 71 strong-willed years (Nov. 26, 1939-Sept. 19, 2011) Thursday from 9 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will follow at 11.
