Leon was nothing if not forthright. He never mixed words, and you always knew where you stood with him. He had the gift of being the Archie Bunker of Delran, but without malice. When he was breaking someone’s chops, it was just his way of showing affection. As a father he was always stern, funny then that as “Dzydzya” he let the grandkids get away with anything. Leon worked for Wall Industries in Beverly, was a gas attendant with his wife Diane at Texaco and also later at Sam’s Club in Cinnaminson. But, for many years when he was the bartender at the PACC in Delran. The regulars there knew when he was cooking crabs as soon as they opened the door. If the smell didn’t entice you to stay he was always happy to pack up an order to go. And while he had caught many of the bushels of crabs that were served, his real passion was fishing. Although constant sea sickness and not knowing how to swim left him with a fear of the water, his love of casting a line saw him overcome it. But it was never about the fish he brought home, rather it was always about a relaxing day with family and friends.rn As a young man Leon was introduced to a woman named Diane (nee Lisiewski). For Leon it was love at first site, she, however took more convincing. After a few dates that she had chaperoned by her friends she was sure of his honorable intentions. Before her passing in July, 2012, their 48 year marriage was blessed by their children: Marie Iezzi (Joe) of Delran, Leon, Jr. of Delran and Ronald (Jennifer) of Voorhees, and again by their grandchildren: Erin, Amanda (Dan), Joseph, Ryan and Luke and great-grandchildren: Michael and Ian. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy DeWitt of Roebling, brothers-in-law: Ronald Lisiewsk of Cherry Hill, Joseph Lisiewsk of Mt. Laurel and Jack Lisiewsk of Arizona, as well as by many nieces and nephews.rn Come celebrate Leon’s 70 wonderful years (Apr. 25, 1942-Dec. 22, 2012) Saturday from Noon to 3PM at Throwback’s Bar & Grill 2929 Rt. 130 South, Delran, NJ 08075. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Delran High School Music Program (DPMA) Attn. Mr. Warren Frederick 50 Hartford Rd., Delran, NJ 08075. Arrangements by the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.rn

I remember the 1st time he took me with him & Leon JR to go crabbing. I told him I’d never been on a boat before. I thought he was going to make me stay on shore since the water was so choppy! We went out, I had a blast, he was the one who didn’t feel so good! So many fond memories of him, his jokes & pranks. He will be sorely missed by many, but he has been reunited with his one & only love again and is at peace.
Leon was a great neighbor for most of my life. He always had a story about his adventures and made me laugh on many occasions. I was so sad to hear of his early passing. I am sure that missing Diane had a lot to do with it.
What everyone just read is just a general synopsis of my father. We all have our own fond memories of him. Our family greatly appreciates your memories too. The love and support from everyone has and is helping our family , in the passing of not just my father but my mother just 5 month’s ago. Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts.nThe Grabowski and Iezzi family.
I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in your loving memories and in God’s promise to soon “swallow up death forever and wipe the tears from all faces” Isaiah 25:8. While grief at the loss of Mr. Leon is great, the joy at welcoming him back in the resurrection will be greatly, for God says: all in his memory will be brought back to life. I hope these few facts bring you and your family some strength and comfort in your difficult days ahead and time of need.
