Mary Ann was born in Woodbury, NJ, the first of Charles and Mary Marino’s two daughters. Her childhood was filled with extended family gatherings, weekends and vacations on the boat, and dreams of meeting Elvis Presley. She came to love seafood, crab cakes and hoagies above all other foods, and enjoyed collecting dolls. After graduating Kingsway, she met and married Gary Melson Sr., and became a mother while establishing a career in the housekeeping department of Underwood Hospital. Every September, after son Gary Jr. became a volunteer fireman, she would faithfully take him to the Fireman’s Convention in Wildwood, where they enjoyed the food and games on the boardwalk. In her later years she still loved Christmas, ravioli and pierogi dinners at Mom’s house, and driving around South Jersey with her son. She will be remembered and missed by Gary Jr., sister, Joan Cannon, nephews, John and Bryce Cannon as well as many cousins. Friends and family are welcome to attend visitation on Friday July 17th from 6 – 8 pm at Daley Life Celebration Studio in Swedesboro, NJ; and Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 18th at the Church of the Incarnation in Mantua (meet directly at church at 10:45 a.m.) Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Swedesboro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main St., Mantua Township, NJ 08051.

I’m sorry you are no longer with us in this world, Mary Ann. I have many fond memories of our childhood. I remember riding my bike to your house and playing together when we were children. You invited me to an overnight once on your family’s boat. It was quite an adventure for me, and I will never forget it. I lived in Mt. Royal, but when I think of Clarksboro, yours is one of the names I remember. I am saddened to hear of your passing. RIP Mary Ann.
