Norma Lang

Norma was the oldest Swedesboro resident. She remembered living without electricity, washing clothes by hand, children going to school in horse and buggy, silent movies, and making soap. She enjoyed modern -inventions much better. If there was a function in town you could count on Norma attending. She was a lifelong active member of Bethesda U-M Church . But she would also visit the other churches for events. The Historical Society benefited from her membership and wealth of facts. Most days before she moved to Pitman Manor Norma could be found downtown in front of the news agency reading the paper and observing street activities. During one major snowstorm, 36 inch total, Norma, who was well into her 80’s couldn’t resist seeing that much snow and somehow made it downtown to her observation post. After graduation from Swedesboro High School, class of 1929, Norma became a hairdresser and opened a shop at home and later owned and operated a liquor store in Paulsboro.rnNorma had a zest for life, enjoyed many friends, played cards and still participated in Bingo at the Manor. She always won many prizes at Bingo.rnShe was pre deceased by three siblings and is survived by several nieces, nephews and her caregiver, Ann Zayac.rnCome celebrate 101 active years Monday from 10AM at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro where there will be an 11AM Service.
