Rickard Johansson
7/19/1970, a.k.a. Pretty Ricky, Slick Rick, Pickle Rick and many more passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on 11/24/2023. He is survived by is wife, Liz, his daughter, Brea (Tom), grandchildren Tommy and Lucy and bonus children Rachael and Kevin. He was son to Ginny & Bob Guy and Rickard & Rosemary Johansson. Loved by his sister Dawn and her children Zachary, Jackson and Camryn, his Godparents Tom & Diane Farrell and his Canadian family Rob & Linda Stanley, Carrie (Eric), Austin and Curtis.
Rick had the biggest heart. EVERYONE who met him became his friend. He always joked about needing new friends but he dearly loved the friends he had and relished being the life and laughter of the party. He has left a hole in the hearts of so many, near and far.
Rick grew up in the Mayfair, Northeast Philadelphia, and went to Lincoln High School. He enjoyed playing drums, roller skating and working on cars. He worked at the City of Philadelphia Streets Dept for 22 years and had so many other occupations before and during his time at the City. He worked for UPS, Ford, as a bartender, a superintendent for his landlord and had a contracting/repair business. He could fix anything. His passion was turning wrenches.
He loved muscle cars and Jeeps. He retired from the City to pursue Side Street Offroad and was so proud to be building and repairing everyone’s rides. A day of wheeling (and recovery) finished with beers and friends around a fire was a good day for Rick. His heart was full of love and laughter. It is impossible to summarize someone so incredibly important to so many people. Rick lived life to the fullest. Helping people was second nature and he would do anything for you. Whether someone was in need of a car or home repair, a Jeep build or tow, a ride, a beer or a shoulder to cry on – he was there. Right to the very end, he was giving. His legacy lives on as he became an organ donor through the NJ Sharing Network. He will be missed by all who know him and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and fun-loving nature.
Come, remember his love by sharing stories, wear your Jeep shirt and toast Rick on Friday, December 1st. Visit with family 11-1 with the ‘Celebration of Life’ to follow at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro, NJ.
There will be a memorial Jeep Ride/Bonfire planned for a date in the Spring TBD.

We will be forever grateful that you and Elizabeth found each other – what a lifetime of memories you packed into your years together. Loved and never forgotten by your Canadian Mum & Dad.

What a beautiful tribute to Rick and what a light he was in this world, especially to our niece Liz for whom he was her great love. We pray that the outpouring of love and the many lovely memories of this sweet soul will bring comfort to the family and friends. Sending much love from your extended family in Canada.
He was my brother, is something I have heard more than a few say .. he made everyone feel like family: loved and cared for ..oh, and teased like only a big brother can! Mostly, he made my sister happy and for that, I will miss my BIL and say, Thank You. Love you Bud.

I am so sorry for your loss. I first met “Ricky” when we were 12 yrs old at Concord Rolling skating rink. Those were the days. Sending prayers to his family and friends.

Only very special people become organ donors and has such good friends and family who love him unconditionally. This was Rick. A very great guy. He will be missed.
I didn’t know Rick but my son Frank spoke very highly of him. My heart and my prayers go out to his family and his Jeep friends. May he rest in peace in the hands of God.
Eric & I wanted to say we are so sorry for your loss my prayers and thoughts goes out to you all. Rick was friends with me my husband Eric. Rick was a great guy n friend. We are thinking of you all and will always be there for you all. ❤ 🙏
