It has been said that our greatest ability comes solely from our dependability. Bob knew that you never make a promise you can’t keep. His most important promise was to his family; he thought nothing of working two jobs to see to his children’s education, instilled the highest morals in them and if he was strict, it was only because he knew kids need a parent more than a friend. Given that, when he was blessed with grandchildren, all rules went out the window. The values he instilled in his kids would surely be passed down, so his time was better spent wearing a silly hat for their amusement or reading them “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” during the holidays. Although he was a man of few words, he was always ready to talk sports. He rooted for every Philly team, and always had a special place in his heart for St. Joseph’s basketball.rnWhile working at Macmillan in Riverside, Bob earned more than a paycheck. It was here he met a woman named Jackie (Lawrence). Within a year of casually meeting in the break room, they began their 30 year marriage. Bob is also survived by his children: Kathy Cebulka (Jim) of Flemington, Peg Perry (Rhett) of Cinnaminson, Sue Scowden of Pottstown, PA, Craig Smith (Mandi) of NC, and Ken Smith (Marie) of West Deptford as well as his 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.rnCome celebrate Bob’s 73 wonderful years (Dec. 23, 1936-Dec. 4, 2010) Friday from 6-8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will follow at 11. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park.
