Sandra Meli-Eubank

Sandra Meli-Eubank

rnWhat you saw was what you got. She never put on any false airs and always spoke her mind. Her personality was larger than life and she lit up any room she entered. She loved the shore, food, folks and fun. Friends and family could ask for no more loyal a friend. Even as she fought life’s toughest battles she cared for those around her. Her strength, optimism, joking and attitude served as an inspiration for others battling cancer.rnShe loved to goof around and never cared about looking foolish. She did dances to the themes of her favorite shows. Most memorable where her N.C.I.S. dance and her Law and Order dance. Some playfully claimed she was nosey, but she preferred to call herself curious. She said it was how she learned things.rnShe is survived by her daughter, Kaitlin; sisters, Jennifer (Jim) Bennett, Lori (Larry) Mourey, and Marsi Meli; her mother, Anna “Ungie” Meli; nieces, Brooke and Sabrina Mourey; her longtime companion, Thomas Chisolm and a myriad of friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her father John Meli.rnCome celebrate 52 fun years Thursday 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside where there will be a service at 8:00. In lieu of flowers donations to help the family c/o Marsi Meli, P.O. Box 144, Riverside N.J. 08075 will be appreciated.rn

I never had the pleasure of actually meeting Sandy, but I feel as if I knew her, at least a little. And I liked her a lot. Her sister, Marsi, and I have been friends since Marsi’s time in California. When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year, I “met” Sandy via Marsi. She very quickly became my hero ? along with Marsi and Marsi and Sandy’s mom. What an awesomely strong trio of women! Their humor, sincerity and straightforward good advice have helped me through my own cancer journey. For that, I will always be grateful.nnI know Sandy’s death has knocked the Meli gals for a loop. But that won’t keep them down. That’s not in their nature. And Sandy would not want them to be down for long.nnMy heart breaks for you. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I will continue to send you all tons of love and good thoughts. nnKathy Thomas-Rico

  22. Donna Gatti Lawn says:

I attended school with Sandy from kindergarten straight through high school graduation. We were never close but Sandy was so memorable because she was always just doing her. She voiced opinions that were frowned upon in our Catholic grammar school, adorned her uniform, even wore a wig on one exceptionally memorable day. She was an honest woman with a big smile and great laugh. We’ve reconnected a bit through Facebook and that has been nice but has left me wishing I’d spent more time with her over the years. I feel so envious and yet, sad for Sandy’s family and friends because I know Sandy gave her all to them and they well be missing her every day. She’s impacted many lives..I will never forget her or her message of hope and joy.

  23. Jim Capobianco says:

I’ve always known Sandy to be a strong person, loyal to her friends and not afraid to speak her mind. All terrific qualities anyone would be proud of but the way she handled her illness with tremendous courage and an unbelievable possitive attitude I think is what I respect the most about Sandy. I’m so glad that she had so many Great Family & Friends to support her through it all. From seeing all of the pictures posted on Facebook it appears that she made many fond memeories & lived life to the fullest! My sincerest condolences to Sandy’s Family & Friends! She certainly will be missed by many.

I am grateful for the memories that she gave me as her “second daughter” and the loyalty of friendship that she and my mom showed me. I know she’s up there with a miller lite in hand and a couple hotdogs on her plate. Thanks for the memories, Sandy. These, I will hold in my heart forever. I love you. Meow.
