Velma Rae Flagg, 94, of Moorestown, NJ, passed away at home on May 18, 2012 surrounded by family and friends.rnVelma was born December 25, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She moved to New Jersey as a child with parents, James and Bessie Criste and grew up in Bridgeboro, NJ, attending Moorestown and Palmyra High Schools. She married Albert Flagg of Bridgeboro and together they established Flagg’s Flowers in Moorestown (Now known as Flagg’s Garden Center)rnVelma worked dawn to dusk at the business while raising three children. She had an artistic talent and as a member of the Burlington County Arts Alliance, displayed many of her paintings at local art shows. She was also a member of Soroptimist of Burlington County.rnAs an avid fan of C-Span and other news programs, she was politically astute and loved to debate any issue. She had a near photographic memory of cards and hardly ever lost a game of pinochle.rnVelma is survived by her loving children, Richard, Susan Thomas and Albert Jr., her sister Margaret Fletcher and brothers Harry and Paul, grandchildren Kelly, Lauryn, Danielle, Criste and Stephen, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was pre-deceased by her husband Albert, sister Genevieve and brother Richard.rnInterment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Velma’s memory to Hospice of Moorestown VNA 300 Harper Dr Moorestown, NJ 08057. A memorial service for family and friends will be announced at a later date. rn
